Fabrications hosted an open house on March 18, 2010. Jill O'Grodnick won the custom window treatment project give-away valued at $1,600.00.
Jill chose her living room windows as the focus of her project. Since I had already been working with Jill before she won, I do not have a total "before" photo of her living room. She had purchased new furniture and had hired me to do a paint consultation. Together we picked a dark chocolate brown for the walls.
We decided to make full length panels for all the windows. We used a napped lining for the panels but the hems were interlined. Because of the elaborate moldings above the arched windows and the limited space, we decided against using decorative hardware and simply block- mounted the panels. Jill picked an inverted pinch pleat style for the heading, but wanted to see how it would look. I made two mock-ups for her before pleating her panels. I had to make very custom blocks to mount the panels on, but the results were stunning! The panels were installed on her 37th wedding anniversary and both she and her husband were pleased with the results.
Window treatments are the icing on the cake and gave this room added elegance and warmth. Scroll down to see all the photos of her project as it progressed.
